Culture, Direct fluorescent antibody (DFA)
This test detects adenovirus by viral culture and direct fluorescent antibody (DFA).
Further characterization of adenovirus type will not be reported.

Specimens submitted in DMEM, EMEM, Liquid Amies, Liquid Stuart, Modified liquid Amies, Sterile PBS, Sterile saline, UTM, or VTM: Bronchial wash, Bronchoalveolar lavage/BAL, Genital Swab, Lower respiratory tract, Nasopharyngeal aspirate, Nasopharyngeal swab, Non-vesicular lesion swab, Ocular swab, Rectal swab, Stool, Throat swab, Tissue aspirate, Tissue biopsy, or Vesicular lesion swab
Specimens submitted in a sterile container: Cerebrospinal fluid/CSF, Pericardial fluid, Pleural fluid, or Urine
Preferred volume: 1 mL
Minimum volume: 200 µL
