Overview/Supplementary
This test determines the serotype of Salmonella sp. isolates using Whole Genome Sequencing.
Turn Around Time
7-14 days
Specimen Requirements
Isolates: Actively growing culture on media that support the growth of the bacterial isolate submitted (e.g., Blood agar, Hektoen Enteric agar, MacConkey agar, Tryptose agar).
Special Considerations
This organism is reportable and submission of clinical materials is required by the MN Reportable Disease Rule 4605.7000 - 4605.7900 (https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/reportable/rule/index.html).
Transport/Stability

Isolates should be incubated overnight or stored at 2-8°C up to one week.

Ship at ambient (8°C to 25°C) or refrigeration (2°C to 8°C) temperature.
