This test identifies Neisseria gonorrhoeae from clinical specimens. The test is for select clinics who participate in the Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Program (GISP) in collaboration with MDH-PHL and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Specimen Requirements
Specimens: Urethral swabs plated to modified Thayer-Martin (MTM) at the bedside of the submitting facility or clinic.

Transport/Stability
Plates should be incubated in a candle jar or with 4-6% CO₂ at 35-37°C until transport.
Ship at ambient (8°C to 25°C) temperature.
