This test identifies Burkholderia mallei/pseudomallei from isolates. MDH will determine if additional tests are required. Francisella tularensis real-time PCR and Brucella spp. real-time PCR assays may also be performed on isolates submitted for Burkholderia mallei/pseudomallei testing.

Specimen Requirements
Isolates: Actively growing culture on media that support the growth of the bacterial isolate submitted.
