This test detects B. pertussis, B. parapertussis, and B. holmesii. Bordetella pertussis toxin (ptxS1) PCR results are reported when applicable.

Specimen Requirements
Isolates: Cultures on Regan Lowe transport medium.
Specimens: Nasopharyngeal swab (dry or in VTM, such as M4, UTM, Alethia Pertussis transport buffer) or upper respiratory specimens
Preferred volume: 2 mL
Minimum volume: 200 µL

Transport/Stability
Store and ship at refrigeration (2°C to 8°C) temperature within 4 days of collection. Alternatively, ship at ambient (8°C to 25°C) temperature within 7 days of collection.
