This test identifies arboviruses from serum. The arbovirus panel may change throughout the testing season which is typically spring through fall.
The panel may include: West Nile, Powassan, Jamestown Canyon, Eastern equine encephalitis, Western equine encephalitis, California-group encephalitis, and St. Louis encephalitis viruses.
Please see Vectorborne Diseases (https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/vectorborne/index.html) for more information on vector-borne diseases in Minnesota.
Serological positive results may be confirmed by additional methods. Atypical or inconclusive results may indicate cross-reactivity; a convalescent specimen should be sent for testing if arbovirus infection is suspected.
