BACTEC™MGIT™ 960 Mycobacteria culture system

Overview/Supplementary

This test provides antimicrobial susceptibility results for isoniazid, rifampin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide for M. tuberculosis isolates. Testing is performed on the initial patient M. tuberculosis isolate and any subsequent isolates with evidence of treatment failure.

Isolates may be sent to CDC for second line drugs.

7-21 days

Specimen Requirements

Isolates: Actively growing culture on media that support the growth of the bacterial isolate submitted (e.g., MGIT broth, MP broth, or L7H11 agar).

Special Considerations

This organism is reportable and submission of clinical materials is required by the MN Reportable Disease Rule 4605.7000 - 4605.7900 (https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/reportable/rule/index.html)

Transport/Stability

Store and ship at ambient (8°C to 25°C) or refrigerated (2°C to 8°C) temperature.
